Description: ‘Naturmæssigt særlig værdifuld skov’ er skov med naturværdier, der rækker udover det gennemsnitlige og almindelige. Det vil sige skov, som har særlig stor betydning for bevarelse af biologisk mangfoldighed i Danmark – forstået på både system-, arts- og genniveau. Det kan også være skov, som har anden særlig stor naturhistorisk værdi (fx naturgeografisk eller geologisk). Naturen i skovene er en vigtig del af biodiversiteten i Danmark, fordi skovene er levested for mange vilde dyr og planter. Nogle skovområder er naturmæssigt mere værdifulde end andre, fordi de er bedre levesteder for dyr, planter og andre organismer. Kortlægningen af naturmæssigt særlig værdifulde skove giver viden om, hvor disse skove findes og en kort beskrivelse af deres naturtilstand.
